Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) seeks a Station Electrician in a hands-on role focused on construction, maintenance, and testing of energized/de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. You will assist in emergency responses and work under varying supervision levels with a strong emphasis on safety.

Requirements include an associate degree or military/experience equivalence, valid CDL, and ability to travel over 50% of the time. Overtime and shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience for entry.
• Military training/equivalent experience acceptable.
• Recent experience with Station Electrician or related role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts with proper supervision.
• Select prints/drawings for tasks and understand them.
• Use test equipment (voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, megger) during station work.
• Assist in maintenance/repair of transformers, breakers, substations, and rotating machinery.
• Install/maintain station batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
