Job summary

NiSource is seeking a senior Safety & Health leader to manage a statewide team and direct safety programs across our operations. You will provide vision for program development, allocate resources, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.

The role involves leading safety meetings, field observations, and collaboration with operations leadership and contractors to drive continuous improvement and enhance overall safety performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in safety or related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
• Minimum five years in safety, environmental, auditing, or regulatory compliance.
• Minimum two years of leadership experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient with computers and modern office equipment.
• Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain the Columbia/NiSource Safety Program.
• Plan work and allocate resources for assigned staff.
• Develop or revise safety policies and standards.
• Oversee safety data, incident reporting, and near-miss programs.
• Lead field observations and provide improvement feedback.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies and external contractors.
• Lead safety improvements and cross-functional teams.
• Develop site-specific safety action plans and investigations.
