WV STATE auditor’s office in Charleston is seeking a Payroll Tax Accounting Administrator to oversee state payroll tax processing, filings and related tax compliance. The role includes preparing 941 filings, W-2/ W-2C processing and collaborating with ERP vendors to resolve issues.

The candidate will train departments, maintain tax tables, and ensure accurate tax payments in WV and reciprocal states, with a starting salary of $45,000–$55,000, commensurate with experience. On-site in Charleston.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting or equivalent preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to use pivot tables, SUMIF, COUNTIF and VLOOKUP.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to work independently and also in a team, in-person and virtually.
• Knowledge of the Statewide ERP System (HRM/Financial) preferred.

Responsabilités

• Process state payroll tax transactions and retiree federal tax payments.
• Review and process departmental tax transactions and resolve issues.
• Prepare quarterly 941 filings and Schedule B; amend filings as required.
• Reconcile WV and reciprocal state tax payments per state requirements.
• Prepare W-2s and W-2Cs; file CT-1 for Railroad Retirement taxes.
• Collaborate with HRM ERP vendor to test tax-related fixes and updates.
• Train departments on tax processing requirements and procedures.
• Maintain tax tables for federal and state taxes and generate reports.
