Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Lead Development Test Technician (Starship Structural Test) for the 1st shift at Starbase, TX. You will lead a testing team, coordinate operations, and ensure safety and high-quality workmanship across pneumatic, hydraulic, and GSE systems.

The role requires hands-on mechanical aptitude, strong collaboration with design engineers, and the ability to read engineering drawings and documentation. On-site work with potential travel for fabrication support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 3+ years of industrial experience (installing pipes, working with high-pressure systems).
• 2+ years assembling and configuring large mechanical structures and test stands using forklifts, cranes, and proper rigging techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team in testing operations, assign work based on priorities, enforce safety and workmanship standards, and remove blockers.
• Serve as liaison between employees and management for problem-solving.
• Coach, mentor, and train team members.
• Ensure team follows proper procedures and uses correct tooling.
• Provide information on materials and components for tooling work orders.
• Support GSE testing: build, install, maintain, and troubleshoot pneumatic/hydraulic equipment.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and instrumentation.
• Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, drawings, manuals.
• Operate hardware, high-pressure systems, and related machinery.
• Fabricate and repair GSE/testing hardware.
• Collaborate with design engineers to document testing activities.
• Obtain and maintain licenses or certifications as required.
• Follow all safety, quality, OSHA/EPA/ NFPA/ASME/NEC regulations.
• Develop new ways to streamline processes and improve reliability.
• Drive workspace cleanliness and organization.
• Perform duties in support of system installation and activation.
