Job summary

Adams, Inc. is growing and seeking a Generator Service Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on residential and light commercial standby generator systems.

This role focuses on service work, with occasional install support, traveling to customer locations across Northern Illinois. You will use manufacturer tools, pursue Generac, Kohler, and Briggs & Stratton certifications, and operate with a company vehicle.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
2+ years experience with engines, motors, or mechanical equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
Electrical experience a plus; proficient with iPad/mobile apps.
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled maintenance and service on standby generator systems.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, fuel, ignition, and engine issues.
Utilize diagnostic tools and service information; document service notes on iPad.
Travel to customer locations, manage daily service schedule, and complete 5+ calls/day.
Support generator/home backup installs as needed and maintain vehicle/tools.
