Job summary

Generac Power Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Generator Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on standby generators and related systems. The role requires field service and the ability to work independently or on a team.

You will inspect, test, and commission equipment, maintain service reports, and ensure safety procedures are followed. Benefits include retirement savings, company vehicle, and on-call premiums.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED with technical schooling preferred.
• 2–5 years experience in generator maintenance or power-generation/industrial maintenance.
• Strong electrical knowledge including AC/DC, relay logic, and transfer switches.
• Mechanical skills and familiarity with engines or fluid systems.
• Ability to read schematics, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with health & safety regulations.
• Must have own hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, battery checks, and routine servicing.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical problems; identify failing components and wiring issues.
• Repair generator systems and replace faulty parts; address engine issues.
• Conduct load bank testing to verify performance of generators.
• Commission new generator installations when applicable.
• Maintain detailed service reports and logs; manage parts usage and maintenance schedules.
• Adhere to safety procedures; participate in on-call emergency rotations.
