Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Stagehand for the Schottenstein Center to support events and general operations during occasional, intermittent shifts. You will follow directions from staff and contribute to a safe, collaborative team environment in a dynamic venue setting.

Responsibilities include box pushing, installing carpentry and props, setting up lighting and audio equipment, and operating rigging as needed. Experience with show production tools and physical readiness is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience handling show production equipment and using hand tools.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs safely, work at height from ladders and personnel lifts and be able to reach, climb and kneel.

Job Description

Stagehands serve as intermittent staff for the Schottenstein Center and provide general support for special events, including load-in and load-out. Stagehands follow direction from staff and road crew, interact and communicate well, work safely as part of a team, and are flexible and accepting of changes in a creative environment.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • General labor including box pushing (70%)
  • Installing carpentry, staging, and props (15%)
  • Installing video, sound, and entertainment lighting equipment (15%)
  • Rigging installation/operation (based on experience and attendance of Schottenstein Center trainings)
  • Driving a forklift (based on experience and attendance of Schottenstein Center trainings)
  • Truck loading/unloading (based on experience)
