Job summary

Aurora San Diego Hospital is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to manage nursing department work schedules and educational needs. The role requires coordinating with CNO and nursing leadership, ensuring accurate timekeeping, and overseeing F.T.E.

management of nursing staff in collaboration with leadership. Responsibilities include adjusting schedules, coordinating with the business office, and supporting new employee orientation and competency packets.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification required per guidelines.
  • Experience in healthcare scheduling or staffing is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adjusts daily staffing schedules and solves issues with CNO/ADON based on acuity and census changes.
  • Coordinate with business office regarding military staffing considerations.
  • Advise on potential staffing needs and manage overtime usage to maintain coverage.
  • Ensure timekeeping system is current for the pay period.
  • Handle vacation and holiday requests with timely staffing approvals.

Job description

The staffing coordinator is responsible for coordinating the work schedule for the Nursing department and any training/education needs. The Coordinator acts as a liaison resource with the Chief Nursing Officer and nursing management to the nursing staff in training and educational activities. Is responsible for F.T.E management of the nursing assistance with assistance from the CNO and Nursing Leadership

  • Pay Range: $25/hr. to $28/hr
Essential functions
  • Adjusts the daily staffing schedule, problem-solving difficult situations with CNO, and ADON of Nursing based on change in acuity, change in census, sick calls, 1:1's and Q 5's
  • Coordinate with business office with military shopping
  • Advises CNO/ADON of potential staffing needs that may require hiring FT, PT, or PD staff. Manages appropriate usage of staff, manages appropriate usage of overtime hours
  • Ensures time keeping system is updated and current for given pay period
  • Receives vacation and holiday requests from nursing staff; advises CNO/ADON if staffing coverage is adequate for approval of requests in a timely manner.
  • Provides clerical support for nursing administration as requested, including maintaining current employee phone numbers

  • Responsible for coordinating educational activities for all nursing staff
  • Responsible for F.T.E management of Nursing staff.
  • Performs related duties as requested and all duties specifically outlined in the staffing coordinator competency checklist

  • Assists with new employee orientation. Creates a receptive environment for new employees, making them welcome and assisting both informally and formally with new employee orientation.
  • Making sure each new employee receives and completed a competency packet and is assigned a preceptor and schedules orientation of each unit.
  • Maintains proper attendance- stays within attendance policy guidelines. Regular/reliable attendance is required. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling
  • Demonstrates safe work habits and knowledge of all related requirements and practices relative to job assignment. Completes incident reports according to policy for work-related illness or injury. Follows all established infection control practices. Assists in maintaining a safe environment at ASD. Knows emergency plans and participates in all emergency preparedness activities
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • BLS (Basic Life Support ) Certification for Healthcare Providers following the American Heart Association guidelines
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Science preferred.
  • One year clerical experience in healthcare, staffing, scheduling
  • UKG system knowledge
