Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer - HW Integration Lead to drive hardware integration during critical development phases and to provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate will have deep systems engineering experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university.
• US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance in scope.
• Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance and SAP approval.
• Experience applying systems engineering processes across full lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware integration during the Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction phase with technical leadership.
• Develop requirements and traceability for integrated electromechanical assemblies.
• Review MBSE artifacts in Cameo to ensure alignment with technical baseline.
• Oversee verification and validation strategy, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
• Plan and execute system integration and hardware–software integration activities, including lab testing.
• Develop analyses, trade studies, and risk assessments to support design decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IPTs to ensure producibility, testability, and supportability.
• Review system engineering artifacts such as interface control documents and installation docs.
• Provide SME guidance to hardware engineers and lead senior technical reviews.
• Mentor early-career engineers in engineering best practices.
