Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Software Lead in Huntsville, AL, to guide hands-on software development for safety-critical command and launch systems. You will lead teams, ensure software artifacts meet nuclear surety and certification requirements, and drive hardware-in-the-loop integration with real-time systems.

The role requires 12+ years of experience, DoD Secret clearance, and strong C++/embedded expertise, with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and verification, in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience or equivalent advanced degree.
• U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance; Top Secret possible.
• 5+ years of hands-on C++ development for embedded/real-time systems.
• Experience integrating software with hardware in a lab/HWIL environment.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and verification.
• Experience in Agile Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

• Guide software teams in applying software engineering best practices to deliver software artifacts meeting requirements.
• Lead design and integration of complex safety-critical command and launch systems.
• Develop modern C/C++ for embedded and mission applications on RTOS.
• Implement hardware interfaces and drivers for sensors and GPS.
• Use MATLAB/Simulink to prototype and validate algorithms; transition to production C/C++.
• Build and maintain automated tests; debug software/hardware issues.
• Lead HWIL lab integration and scripted test execution.
• Communicate technical approaches and provide leadership to Agile teams.
