Job summary

General Motors is seeking a software engineering leader to modernize build systems, migrating from legacy Make-based workflows to Bazel. You will shape the migration strategy, design reusable Bazel rules, and integrate with enterprise CI/CD and testing to improve build parity, reproducibility, and developer productivity.

You should have a strong background in real-time, safety-critical automotive software, plus proficiency in Python and engineering tooling languages.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering or equivalent experience.
10+ years of software development experience.
Deep understanding of real-time software architecture.
Experience shipping safety-critical products.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

Lead modernization of build systems from Make to Bazel across repositories and toolchains.
Design reusable Bazel rules and toolchains for embedded software.
Integrate Bazel with enterprise CI/CD, testing, and release workflows.
Define phased migration strategy and rollout model for builds and tests.
Drive productivity improvements, reduce build times, and increase reproducibility.
