Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Staff Engineer in Technology Operations to lead incident management tooling and platform reliability across distributed systems. You will design, build, and operate automation, data pipelines, and runbooks that enable faster detection and recovery from incidents.

You will guide incident response, perform post-incident reviews, and mentor engineers while collaborating with SRE, platform, and security teams to raise reliability and operational excellence across GEICO’s critical

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 6+ years of architecture, design, reliability, or platform engineering leadership for production systems.
• 3+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, or equivalent in complex hybrid environments.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve enterprise-critical platforms, including automation, data pipelines, and on-call tooling.
• Lead technical investigations during high-severity incidents and coordinate cross-team responses.
• Influence engineering culture through architectural reviews and cross-team collaboration.
• Develop and maintain incident response strategies, runbooks, and resilience practices.
