Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Senior SRE Software Engineer to design, build, and operate high-performance distributed platforms with zero-downtime reliability. You will own incident management tooling, lead on-call operations, and help scale automation across complex systems.

You’ll collaborate with platform, security, and product teams to improve COEs and post-incident learning, while contributing to engineering culture and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in platform/reliability/backend.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native services.
• Strong incident management and post-incident improvement skills.
• Experience with data pipelines, analytics, and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate automation, dashboards, and data pipelines for incident management, on-call, paging, and troubleshooting processes.
• Develop shared services, APIs, data contracts, automation, and integrations to standardize incident response.
• Apply engineering standards across design, deployment, testing, observability, and production readiness.
• Implement safe deployment, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and operational controls.
