Job summary

Optomi is seeking a Staff Software Engineer specializing in server infrastructure and automation to modernize enterprise compute across data centers and hybrid environments. You will design and build software that provisions, configures, monitors, and remediates infrastructure, focusing on bare-metal and virtualized systems.

The role emphasizes deep systems knowledge, automation patterns, and collaboration with networking, storage, and cloud teams to improve reliability and scalability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of infrastructure, systems, software, or platform engineering experience.
• Strong infrastructure software engineering background with tooling that manages infrastructure.
• Experience with Python, Go, Java or similar languages.
• Hands-on Python and Ansible highly preferred.
• Strong Linux and bare-metal systems experience.
• Experience with infrastructure automation, IaC, and config management.
• Understanding of distributed systems, orchestration, clustering, and infra APIs.
• Experience modernizing or automating legacy infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop software and automation for server provisioning, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Build and maintain Python/Ansible automation and infrastructure playbooks.
• Automate bare-metal OS deployment and infrastructure configuration.
• Develop automated workflows for infrastructure monitoring, ticket creation, alerting, and remediation.
• Help establish self-monitoring and self-healing infrastructure capabilities.
• Analyze legacy infrastructure and identify modernization opportunities.
• Support hybrid cloud infrastructure initiatives and infrastructure platform development.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across servers, OS, networking, storage, and infra software.
• Partner with infrastructure teams across networking, storage, cloud, and systems engineering.
• Develop reusable automation patterns, engineering standards, documentation, and operational procedures.
• Drive continuous improvements in infrastructure reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
