Job summary

Optomi seeks a Staff Software Engineer – Server Infrastructure & Automation to modernize and automate enterprise infrastructure across large-scale data center environments in the United States. You will work at the intersection of software engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure automation, and platform engineering to build scalable infrastructure software and automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of experience in software/systems/infrastructure engineering
• Strong programming experience in Python, Go, Java, C++, Rust or C#
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management, particularly Python and Ansible
• Strong understanding of Linux and enterprise OS fundamentals
• Experience with infrastructure APIs, orchestration, automation frameworks, or platform services
• Experience with legacy infrastructure and deep understanding of existing systems

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical owner for enterprise server infrastructure platforms across their lifecycle, including evaluation, deployment, maintenance, refresh, and retirement
• Design and develop software systems that automate infrastructure deployment, provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, and remediation
• Build automation and orchestration solutions using Python, Go, Java, or similar languages
• Develop Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management that standardize operations
• Build automated workflows to detect issues, create tickets, initiate remediation, and escalate when needed
• Contribute to self-monitoring and self-healing infrastructure capabilities
• Engineer solutions that interact with physical servers, OS, firmware, networking, storage, and APIs
• Support bare-metal OS environments and infrastructure platforms
• Troubleshoot complex issues across hardware, firmware, drivers, OS, networking, storage and software
• Modernize legacy infrastructure through automation with deep tech understanding
• Design and implement infrastructure services, APIs, control-plane capabilities, and orchestration workflows
• Apply software engineering principles to infra systems, including testing, VCS, CI/CD, and maintainable design
• Collaborate with infra, networking, storage, security, cloud, and app engineering teams
• Develop technical docs, architecture standards, procedures, automation playbooks, runbooks
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual ops and improve reliability and scalability
