Job summary

Optum Tech seeks an experienced Linux Platform Engineer to design, automate, and operate enterprise Linux and virtualization infrastructure across our scale‑out environment.

You will manage Red Hat Linux, KVM, and storage platforms while implementing security and automation at scale. This role supports remote work from anywhere in the U.S., with on‑site requirements for Minneapolis or DC when applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years Linux systems administration and engineering experience.
• Solid experience deploying and supporting KVM virtualization environments.
• Experience with Ansible automation and IaC methodologies.
• Experience monitoring using Grafana/Prometheus/Loki/AlertManager/Thanos.
• Experience with IdM/LDAP/Kerberos and authentication services.
• Strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux expertise and system hardening.
• Knowledge of F5 and HAProxy load balancing across datacenters.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain large-scale Red Hat Linux environments.
• Design, deploy, and support KVM-based virtualization platforms.
• Build automation solutions using Ansible, Python, and shell scripting.
• Configure IBM Spectrum Scale storage and Linux storage tech (LVM, dm-crypt, LUKS2).
• Ensure system security, hardening, encryption, and compliance controls.
• Collaborate with Kubernetes, network, security, and applications teams.
• Drive platform modernization through automation and standardization.
