Onsite: 5x a week onsite in Morrisville, NC
Optomi, in partnership with our premier client in the media industry, is seeking a System Engineer II to help ensure the stability and quality of our device-based automation infrastructure. In this role, you will support and optimize our device lab environments, improve automation processes, and contribute to maintaining high standards of technical excellence across our development lifecycle.
Basic Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in device automation roles such as SDET, Software Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer, with hands‑on experience building or supporting execution harnesses.
- Strong proficiency with Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems, including solid Bash scripting skills.
- Knowledgeable in networking concepts with the ability to diagnose and resolve network performance issues.
- Proven experience contributing to high‑performing teams following Agile or Lean practices.
- Effective collaborator, experienced with standard SDLC tools such as Jira, Confluence, and version control systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, and Spinnaker.
- Experience deploying and optimizing applications on cloud platforms like AWS.
- Hands‑on experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as PagerDuty and Datadog.
- Experience using proxy tools such as MITM Proxy or Charles Proxy.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot networking issues in lab environments and elevate findings as needed.
- Enhance monitoring and observability for lab infrastructure.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including hardware, software, and service groups.
- Define and enforce SLAs for lab systems and automation workflows.
- Reduce start‑up times and improve efficiency for device automation processes.
- Keep operating systems, permissions, and device configurations up to date.
- Organize and maintain physical lab spaces and equipment for easier access and maintenance.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation for users and team contributors.
- Proactively investigate system issues and drive them to resolution.
- Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, applying new ideas to solve technical challenges.
