Job summary

Storm2 is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in New York to act as a technical leader and force multiplier within our engineering org. You’ll own complex, high-impact systems, shape platform direction, and uplift the team through mentorship and smart trade-offs.

You’ll drive multi-team initiatives, partner with product and design, and help scale our services to meet rapid client demand while maintaining security and reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and scaling web-based software products.
• Track record of owning and delivering complex technical projects with measurable cross-team impact.
• Deep expertise in full-stack development, distributed systems, or large-scale backend architecture.
• Experience influencing technical direction and driving alignment across teams without formal authority.
• Excellent communication skills — articulating complex technical concepts to engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect and drive complex, cross-functional technical initiatives from conception to production, focusing on scalability and long-term maintainability.
• Set technical direction for core platform systems, balancing performance, security, and reliability at scale.
• Partner with product, design, and data teams to define and deliver high-impact features end to end, influencing roadmaps with technical insight.
• Mentor and level up engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on guidance.
• Identify and resolve systemic engineering challenges, including tech debt, infra gaps, and cross-team bottlenecks.
