Job summary

Kovoro in New York is seeking a Staff Engineer on Platform to own the technical roadmap for shared services used by every product squad, including authn/authz, data isolation, feature flagging, async job orchestration, and API standards.

This role blends hands-on coding with technical leadership (roughly 60/40) and requires prior Staff or Principal experience, strong architecture skills, and excellent written communication for design docs read by the entire engineering org.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with prior Staff or Principal scope.
• Ownership of a major platform area (identity, data infra, async processing, dev platform, etc).
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node, Python, or Java.
• Deep experience designing multi-tenant SaaS systems with focus on isolation, performance, and security.
• Excellent written communication — able to write design docs read by the whole engineering org.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our client is a profitable, growth-stage B2B SaaS company with offices in Manhattan and London. Their product is the system of record for contract lifecycle management at a large share of the AmLaw 200 and is increasingly displacing incumbents in the broader corporate legal market. Engineering is 60 strong and organized into vertical product squads supported by a central Platform group.

As Staff Engineer on Platform you will own the technical roadmap for shared services that every product squad depends on — authn/authz, multi-tenant data isolation, feature flagging, async job orchestration, and internal API standards. You will write design docs that shape the org, review architecture for the highest-risk projects, and split your time roughly 60/40 between hands-on coding and technical leadership.

This is a high-leverage role for an engineer who has previously held a Staff or Principal title and wants influence over a platform serving meaningful enterprise customers. The CTO and VP Engineering report direct alignment on the importance of this hire.
