Job summary

One Identity's OneLogin team is seeking Staff Software Engineers who own their work end-to-end, bring strong technical judgment, and act with urgency. These roles require T-shaped engineers who can operate across backend, APIs, cloud, and operations while improving reliability and reducing operational burden.

You will drive modernization strategies, decompose monoliths using patterns like strangler fig, ensure API and data contract compatibility, and balance velocity with stability.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering with ownership of production systems.
• Strong backend development experience (Ruby, Node.js, or similar).
• REST APIs, service contracts, distributed systems, and design patterns.
• AWS & Cloud-Native experience in building and operating cloud services.
• CI/CD practices and modern deployment workflows.
• Observability tools used to monitor production systems (Datadog preferred).
• On-Call and incident response experience.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tools and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Execute and evolve an incremental modernization strategy, safely transitioning legacy systems into well-bounded services while maintaining reliability and continuity
• Decompose monolithic systems incrementally using patterns such as strangler fig
• Manage coexistence between legacy and modern systems during transition
• Design clear service boundaries, contracts, and data ownership models
• Ensure backward compatibility and safe evolution of APIs and data during migration
• Improve performance, scalability, and maintainability as part of modernization efforts
• Identify and prioritize high-impact areas for migration based on risk and value
