Job summary

Okta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the OIN team to own complex, end-to-end platform challenges and raise the technical bar across engineers. You’ll drive architecture, design, delivery, and production operations while mentoring others and championing AI-native engineering practices.

You’ll work with product, architecture, and design to define the right solutions, evolve APIs and data models, and ensure security and reliability for a broad customer base while balancing speed and rigor

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java or a comparable strongly-typed backend language/framework.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in the cloud.
• Strong knowledge of identity protocols (OAuth 2.0/OIDC, SAML, SCIM).

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and technical scoping for new requirements with product and design partners.
• Design and evolve APIs, data models, and security posture for integrations.
• Drive technical decisions across multi-team dependencies and ensure backward compatibility.
• Modernize and evolve a long-lived production system without disrupting customers.
