Job summary

Affirm is reinventing credit, offering transparent BNPL with a focus on fraud protection. We seek a Staff Software Engineer on the Fraud Decisioning team to take technical ownership of the systems, tools, and real-time decisioning infrastructure that protect Affirm, buyers, and merchant partners from fraudulent activity.

You will architect, build, and maintain production-grade fraud-fighting capabilities that evaluate risk across the user journey.

Qualifications

• 6–10+ years of professional software engineering experience with leadership.
• Experience designing and maintaining high-throughput distributed systems.
• Translate complex requirements into modular system designs.
• Commitment to observability and defensive software design.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, deploy, and maintain fraud decisioning systems.
• Lead large cross-functional technical initiatives with ownership.
• Write clean, well-tested code for high-concurrency fraud scenarios.
• Mentor engineers and participate in hiring and standards.
