Job summary

Huntress is seeking a senior software architect to design, implement and mentor engineers on the most complex features the team builds. You will partner with the Engineering Manager to steer technical direction, improve overall team function, and set the standard for engineering excellence.

You will own cross-team dependencies, drive ADRs for major changes, and focus on the full lifecycle of systems with emphasis on risk management.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing complex software products.
• 5+ years of programming in Ruby on Rails, ideally with large monoliths.
• Strong architectural experience with driving design decisions (ADRs).
• Experience with AWS or other public clouds and Linux-based infrastructure.
• Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to grasp new tools and technologies quickly.
• Ability to prioritise and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience decomposing ambiguous requirements into actionable work.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and mentor engineers on the most complex features the team builds.
• Partner with the Engineering Manager to steer the team’s technical direction and set engineering standards.
• Own cross-team dependencies and collaborate to remove blockers for feature delivery.
• Drive the ADR process for major technical changes impacting the codebase.
• Focus on the full lifecycle of systems including evolution, configuration and risk management.
• Mentor and coach engineers to promote collaboration and high engagement across the team.
