Job summary

Ladders seeks a Staff Software Engineer to shape the technical direction of a finance and insurance technology leader. This remote US-based role focuses on scalable architectures, modernization, reliability, and long-term strategy across multiple systems and platforms.

You will partner with business and technology leaders to align roadmaps with priorities, set engineering standards, and elevate software delivery quality across the function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Nine+ years of software development with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience architecting solutions across multiple systems and platforms.
• Deep expertise in AWS serverless and cloud-native data architecture.
• Ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct authority.
• Mentoring senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive technical direction and architecture for the technology team.
• Partner with leaders to develop technical roadmaps aligned with business priorities.
• Architect complex solutions spanning multiple applications and technology platforms.
• Lead major cross-team technical initiatives from analysis through implementation.
• Establish and drive adoption of technical standards and reusable components.
• Identify and address systemic technical risks and operational weaknesses.
• Mentor senior software engineers and promote engineering excellence.
