Job summary

Included Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join a product engineering team, reporting to the Director of Engineering. This is a technical lead individual contributor role focused on driving strategy, elevating standards, and delivering high-impact, user-facing solutions at scale.

You will shape architecture across teams, partner with Product, Design, and Data, and stay hands-on in code while mentoring others and setting the bar for quality, scalability, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development in a growth-focused role.
• Staff level experience within a product-focused engineering organization.
• Strong backend or full-stack technical depth with scale delivery.
• Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic technical leadership.
• Experience driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, product, and design.
• Clear written and verbal communication, especially in ambiguous or high-stakes situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex, cross-team product initiatives
• Partner with Product and Design to translate ambiguous problem spaces into scalable technical solutions
• Establish and evolve architectural patterns that support growth and reliability
• Raise the engineering bar through thoughtful code reviews, mentorship, and technical guidance
• Identify and proactively address technical debt, performance issues, and systemic risks
• Influence roadmap decisions with a strong product and systems mindset
