Job summary

Healthie is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the architecture for the new Billing & Payments platform, leading data modeling, backend services, GraphQL APIs, and React/TypeScript experiences on top.

You will set the technical direction, make critical decisions, and collaborate with Product and Design to deliver a scalable, compliant billing system within a production Rails monolith used by 40,000+ providers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and shipping production systems across the full stack with strong expertise in Ruby, React, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
• Experience designing backend services, APIs, and data models that support high-scale applications.
• Comfortable leading technical initiatives, architecture decisions, and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of the new billing platform, from architecture through launch
• Make and document the key technical decisions: data modeling, payment flows, reconciliation, and integration with current systems
• Build across the stack in Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, React, and TypeScript
• Set the bar for correctness in financial workflows: testing, observability, auditability, and safe rollouts
• Run design reviews and mentor engineers on the team
• Partner with Product and Design to translate complex billing requirements into shippable scope
