Job summary

Flexport seeks a Staff Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives (Automation) to architect and build tomorrow’s Fulfillment network—deploy automation, design processes, and create standards across sites.

You’ll own initiatives from whiteboard to go-live, size opportunities with ROI models, and partner with engineering, product, operations, and finance to scale solutions. Hands-on on floor and in data, you’ll drive multi-year automation roadmaps with leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in fulfillment, logistics, or operations strategy with exposure to automation or robotics programs.
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• End-to-end ownership of large-scale capital programs: business case, implementation, ROI tracking.
• Hands-on automation experience with ASRS, robotics, goods-to-person systems, or conveyors.
• Strong financial modeling skills and ability to defend ROI to senior leadership.
• Extremely strong technical skills: SQL, Excel/Sheets, BI tools, and Python.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable building from scratch and taking action.
• Executive-level communication across site operators to CFOs.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end initiatives from problem framing to ROI post-launch with no handoffs.
• Build and own ROI models for automation and capital projects, including labor savings and throughput gains.
• Track actuals vs projections post-implementation and report outcomes to leadership and finance.
• Evaluate, select, and implement warehouse automation solutions across the fulfillment network.
• Define automation requirements from throughput, bin/cube utilization, labor rates, and SKU profiles.
• Develop tooling, dashboards, and models using SQL, Python, and BI platforms.
