Job summary

Harbinger Motors in Garden Grove seeks a Staff Powertrain Engineer to lead powertrain development from concept to production launch and life. You will own EDUs and ICE, define standards, and guide cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑performing powertrain solutions.

The role requires 6+ years in automotive powertrain design, CATIA proficiency, and strong FE A/thermal insights. This on-site position includes growth opportunities and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 years in mechanical design.
• Experience owning powertrain systems from concept to life in an automotive environment.
• Experience with Electric Drive Units (EDUs) and Internal Combustion engines; strong knowledge of powertrain manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Powertrain systems such as Electric Drive Units (EDUs) or Gen-sets, and Internal Combustion Engines (ICE)
• Break down complex technical challenges into smaller components and mentor junior engineers in delivering solutions.
• Set standards and best practices for FEAs, design guidelines, and hand calculations.
• Support developing clean-sheet projects, creating novel solutions from first principles, academic research, and industry benchmarking
• Work closely with technicians and suppliers to create prototypes for validation
• Take in, process, and communicate complex technical information to a wide audience.
