Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Design Researcher to lead the Platform Design and Research team, shaping research vision and practice across systems powering Coinbase. You will translate ambiguous problems into opportunities and deliver high-quality, shipped design insights spanning Identity, Payments, Developer Experience, and Compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in user research and product design, including setting research vision for complex, technical platforms.
• Ability to influence senior cross-functional and executive stakeholders with research-driven insights and compelling presentations.
• Expert-level proficiency in design and prototyping tools (Figma or equivalent) to produce polished deliverables.
• Strong command of qualitative research methods and ability to introduce new approaches for ambiguous problems.
• Experience building research practices, operating models, or measurement programs that scale impact beyond a single team.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the research practice for Platform, setting the vision, strategy, prioritization, and engagement models across the organization.
• Own and run Platform's internal CSAT program, designing surveys, analyzing results, and reporting to leadership.
• Conduct and lead generative, evaluative, and mixed-methods research with engineers, PMs, and end users across multiple domains.
• Drive process and execution that result in high-quality design deliverables, including polished prototypes and interaction flows.
• Partner with senior product, design, and engineering leaders as a cross-functional lead in strategy planning and roadmaps.
• Drive improvements in design consistency and contribute to design systems while building scalable research repositories.
• Coach and mentor designers and product partners on research rigor and design craft.
