Job summary

Anthropic is seeking an experienced Platform Portability Engineer to design provider-agnostic abstractions and build tooling that run our systems on any cloud. You will own Claude delivery to partner clouds, from build to validation, and work closely with cloud partners and internal teams to ensure portability and reliability.

You will mentor engineers on multi-cloud patterns, review designs for portability, and participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and postmortems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of practical experience building and operating production distributed systems.
• Own large-scale infrastructure systems and lead ambiguous, cross-team technical projects.
• Run production workloads across multiple cloud providers and migrate or abstract as needed.
• Understand cloud IAM models and networking primitives across providers.
• Write production code in Python, Go, or Rust.
• Work confidently with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Understand ML infrastructure and interconnects.
• Ship software through hyperscaler marketplaces or managed-model platforms.
• Background in security, compliance, or data residency for regulated or sovereign cloud environments.
• Care about societal impacts and Anthropic's mission to build safe AI.

Responsibilities

• Design provider-agnostic abstractions for storage, messaging, and connectivity and build tooling to provision and operate services across clouds.
• Own end-to-end delivery of Claude onto partner clouds, including build, release, and validation pipelines.
• Review designs for cloud-portability implications and mentor engineers on multi-cloud patterns.
• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to postmortems and runbooks.
