Coinbase, Inc. is seeking Staff Software Engineers in the Developer Infrastructure group within Platform to own tools and systems used by every Coinbase engineer to build and ship software, including CI and deployment orchestration.

You will drive design-to-production delivery and lead cross-team initiatives that impact thousands of engineers. The role requires 8+ years in distributed systems with Go, strong technical leadership, and the ability to mentor peers while improving reliability,

Qualifications

8+ years building and operating production distributed systems with Go and CI/CD, build systems, or deployment tooling.
Track record of designing and shipping high-impact backend or platform systems used by many engineers.
Demonstrated technical leadership on cross-team initiatives, setting architectural direction and driving org-wide alignment.
Deep operational expertise with production systems including reliability, observability, and fast recovery.
Proven ability to mentor others and raise the technical bar with clear communication.
Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

Responsibilities

Own core developer infrastructure platforms, including CI/build systems and deployment orchestration.
Turn ambiguous challenges into concrete roadmaps and align across dependent teams.
Improve metrics like build time, deploy speed, and feedback latency.
Lead cross-cutting initiatives and large-scale platform migrations.
Maintain reliability by owning SLOs, observability, and on-call.
Mentor engineers through design reviews and pair programming.
