Job summary

Coinbase is hiring Staff Software Engineers across several teams within the Developer Infrastructure group in Platform. You'll own the tools and systems every Coinbase engineer depends on to build and ship software, including CI and deployment orchestration, guiding design through production operation.

You'll drive cross-team initiatives, raise the reliability bar with SLOs and observability, and mentor engineers through reviews and shared ownership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go or a similar systems language; experience with CI/CD, build systems, or deployment tooling.
• Shipping high-impact backend or platform systems owned across teams; production operation.
• Demonstrated technical leadership on cross-team initiatives and architectural direction.
• Deep operational expertise for reliability, observability, and fast recovery.
• Mentorship and clear written and verbal communication; responsible AI usage.

Responsibilities

• Own core developer infrastructure platforms from design through production operation.
• Identify high-leverage problems, turn ambiguous challenges into concrete roadmaps, align with dependent teams.
• Improve metrics like build/CI wall time, deploy speed, and feedback latency.
• Lead strategic, cross-cutting initiatives end to end (e.g., platform migrations).
• Raise the reliability bar with SLOs, observability, and on-call readiness.
• Partner with engineers, EMs, and leadership to shape technical strategy and mentor engineers.
