Job summary

University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) in Chicago, IL, seeks a Staff Nurse I for 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE). The role provides direct patient care, collaborates with the health care team, and engages patients and families to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities include planning and executing care, verifying orders, and mentoring staff within a shared leadership model. Illinois residency is required within 180 days.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in IL.
• Current BLS/CPR and/or unit-specific certifications.
• Current ACLS or within 6 months of hire.
• Effective communication with patients and families.
• Proficient computer skills with EHR.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update patient care plans based on assessments and family input.
• Collaborate with health care team to promote effective patient care.
• Verify and implement orders, document in EMR.
• Engage patient and family to develop education plans.
• Support and delegate tasks per Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
• Advocate for patients and families; participate in leadership activities.
• Provide quality patient care aligned with standards and duties.
