Job summary

UI Health in Chicago, IL seeks a Staff Nurse I for the 6E Neuroscience ICU. This 100% full-time, flex night position requires Illinois residency within 180 days and offers a competitive pay range with benefits eligibility.

The Staff Nurse I delivers direct patient care, collaborates with the health care team, and participates in leadership and educational activities to improve patient outcomes. Two positions available.

Qualifications

• Eligibile for RN licensure in Illinois; compact/out-of-state licenses not accepted.
• Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit-specific certifications.
• Current ACLS, or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
• Effective communication skills (oral and written) to facilitate therapeutic relationships.
• Intermediate computer skills; able to learn EHR on the job.
• Excellent attendance and reliable work history.
• NEW GRADUATE NURSES MUST HAVE COMPLETED THEIR RN PROGRAM AND HAVE SAT AND PASSED THE NCLEX EXAM TO MEET THE LICENSURE REQUIREMENT FOR THIS ROLE.

Responsibilities

• Develops and updates the patient plan of care based on ongoing assessment and input from family.
• Collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care.
• Verifies and implements physician orders and documents in the EMR.
• Develops patient education plans and responds to changing patient needs.
• Recognizes changes in patient condition and adjusts priorities accordingly.
• Mentors staff and students; supports shared leadership activities.
• Assumes Charge Nurse responsibilities as assigned and uses available resources.
• Participates in learning opportunities and quality improvement projects.
