Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital invites applications for an experienced Staff Nurse within the Physician Group. You will provide direct patient care, educate patients and families, and support discharge planning in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will apply evidence-based practices, ensure safety, and coordinate care with the health team. A valid RN license and CPR-BLS are required; BSN and specialty experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current experience (within past five years) or new nursing graduate (within past two years).
• State Licensed Registered Nurse for State of employment.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
• One year experience in pertinent clinical specialty (preferred).
• Proficiency in second language (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of patient care using evidence-based practice to optimize safety and reduce errors.
• Adhere to medication administration rights and tailor dosing to age and clinical condition.
• Explain procedures, therapies and treatments to patients and families and document responses.
• Assess and analyze data to plan and coordinate an individualized care plan including discharge planning.
• Identify learning needs of patients and families and provide education and support.
• Involve patients and families in care planning and decision-making.
• Coordinate care with the health team and multidisciplinary services.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and best nursing practices.
• Participate in shared governance and department projects.
