Job summary

Spring Health in New York City seeks a Staff Software Engineer to evolve mobile experiences and lead AI-enabled engineering initiatives. You will own the team architecture, drive AI-augmented workflows, and establish guardrails for safe AI usage, while mentoring engineers and aligning with design and business partners.

This hybrid role requires NYC-area based candidates, 2–3 days in the office, and occasional travel. You will help ensure reliability and scalability across our mobile platforms.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 5 years developing mobile apps on Flutter and React Native.
• Experience designing AI-augmented workflows and guardrails.
• Proven leadership and ability to turn ambiguity into clarity.
• Strong collaboration with design and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a team’s architecture and provide system-wide design guidance.
• Produce efficient, stable, extensible architecture aligned with product strategy.
• Design AI-augmented workflows and incident analysis to multiply team output.
• Establish guardrails for safe, compliant AI usage across the team.
• Drive best practices, reduce tech debt, and prepare the codebase for roadmap needs.
• Influence large cross-team projects and remove barriers to execution.
• Partner with design to define a mobile design system and UX heuristics.
• Own mobile CI/CD, app release processes, and SDK/framework upgrades.
• Mentor engineers and propagate architectural improvements across the org.
• Foster cross-functional relationships and balance short- and long-term goals.
