Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Staff I&C Hardware Engineer to specify, design, install, commission, and maintain instrumentation and control hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities in Orangeville, Utah.

You will lead field instrument selection, control panels, hazardous area classification, and safety instrumented system hardware, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with process, mechanical, and software teams.

Qualifications

Bachelors in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering.
8+ years in instrumentation or I&C engineering on capital projects.
Experience specifying and sizing field instruments and control valves.
Experience developing instrument deliverables like loop diagrams and data sheets.
Hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety loop verification experience.
Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
Experience with instrument calibration, loop checks, and field commissioning.
Experience with SIS hardware scope including SIL and verification.

Responsibilities

Select, size, and specify field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level).
Design control panels and I/O architecture; provide wiring and power details.
Perform hazardous area classification for sites and equipment.
Lead safety instrumented system hardware scope and SIL calculations.
Oversee FAT/SAT, commissioning, and turnover documentation.
Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with vendors/contractors.
