Job summary

Valar Atomics Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - Hardware to specify, design, install, commission, and maintain I&C hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.

You will lead instrument selection, control panel architecture, hazardous area classification, and safety instrumented system hardware across capital projects and ongoing operations. You will collaborate with I&C Software, process, electrical, mechanical, and safety engineers to ensure

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
5+ years of instrumentation or I&C engineering experience in process industries.
Hands-on experience specifying and sizing field instruments and control valves, and producing instrument data sheets.
Experience developing instrumentation deliverables including loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, I/O lists, and cable schedules.
Working knowledge of hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety principles.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
Experience with instrument calibration, loop checking, and field commissioning.

Responsibilities

Select, size, and specify field instrumentation; produce data sheets and requisitions.
Size and specify final control elements; perform valve sizing and actuator checks.
Design control panels and remote I/O architecture; plan power distribution and safety barriers.
Perform hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety calculations.
Develop and maintain instrument documentation, including I/O lists and P&ID mark-ups.
Support SIL determinations and verify safety instrumented system hardware per IEC standards.
Tune PID loops, commission field instrumentation, and resolve loop deviations.
Coordinate with process, mechanical, and piping engineers on installation details.
Provide direction to contractors and review vendor packages for compliance.
