Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking an I&C Hardware Engineer to specify, design, install, commission, and maintain instrumentation and control hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities in Utah. You will work across field instruments, control panels, wiring, and safety systems to support capital projects and ongoing plant operations.

You will collaborate with process, electrical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance, performing FAT/SAT,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering.
  • 5+ years of instrumentation or I&C engineering experience in process industries.
  • Hands-on experience specifying and sizing field instruments and control valves.
  • Experience delivering loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, I/O lists, and cable schedules.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety principles.
  • Ability to read P&IDs and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Specify field instrumentation and control valves, produce data sheets and requisitions.
  • Design panels and remote I/O architecture; plan wiring, grounding, and safety barriers.
  • Perform hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety tasks.
  • Develop and maintain instrument documentation and calibration records.
  • Support SIL calculations, safety instrumented systems, and IEC standards.
  • Tune regulatory loops; commission instrumentation and verify loop performance.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, and electrical teams on installation details.
  • Provide direction to contractors and review vendor packages for compliance.
