Job summary

Kleinfelder's Geotechnical team seeks a Staff Geotechnical Engineer in the Boston, MA office to support a wide range of projects from earthwork to deep foundation modeling.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor of Science in geotechnical/civil engineering or geology and up to 3 years of experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills and a willingness to travel for field assignments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of science in geotechnical/civil engineering, geology, or related discipline.
• 0 to 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Positive work attitude with safe, efficient multi-task execution.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently or in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Thirst to learn and continuously improve in a team.
• Can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset are essential.
• Willingness to travel overnight up to 50% for field work.

Responsibilities

• Assist geotechnical field work and analysis including boring logging, sampling, and infiltration testing.
• Assign appropriate laboratory testing.
• Support subcontractors and vendors for drilling and lab services.
• Review and interpret data and lab results.
• Prepare field and technical reports and geotechnical analyses.
• Perform analyses such as slope stability and foundation modeling under engineer guidance.
• Collaborate with design teams to integrate geotechnical aspects into sites.
• Monitor geotechnical issues during construction earthwork and foundations.
