Job summary

Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Engineering team in Boston, MA is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support a range of challenging projects across New England. You will work on field logging, lab coordination, and geotechnical analyses under the guidance of a professional engineer.

Responsibilities include preparing field and technical reports, partnering with design teams, and assisting with slope stability, settlements, and deep foundation modeling.

Qualifications

• BS in geotechnical/civil engineering, geology, or related field.
• 0–3 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% for drilling/observation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently or in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with geotechnical field work / analysis (soil/rock boring logging, sampling, infiltration testing).
• Assign laboratory testing and coordinate subcontractors.
• Review and interpret data and laboratory results; prepare technical reports.
• Conduct slope stability, settlement, and deep foundation analyses under supervision.
• Collaborate with design teams to incorporate geotechnical aspects into site designs.
• Support construction observation and site troubleshooting; participate in safety culture.
