Job summary

Ad Hoc is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack, to lead technical direction across government-focused projects from a remote US location. You will shape roadmaps, mentor teams, and drive high-quality software with strong Rails and React ecosystems.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience (or 10+ years without a degree) and readiness to obtain VA Public Trust clearance. You will collaborate with VA partners to deliver secure, scalable digital services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert Ruby on Rails development.
• RESTful API design and development.
• Strong React/Redux/JavaScript/HTML/CSS expertise.
• Ability to triage production issues.
• Eligibility for VA Public Trust security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction across projects with high autonomy.
• Plan technical roadmaps for new initiatives with stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and review architectural decisions.
• Communicate system architecture and tradeoffs clearly.
• Participate in technical interviews and assess candidates.
