Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack to act as a senior technical leader with significant autonomy. You will guide technical direction across projects and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions for government-related digital services.

Responsibilities include roadmapping, strategic planning with clients, and reducing technical debt through documentation and testing. A VA public trust clearance and U.S. work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, or 10+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Expert experience developing applications with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust security clearance.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead technical roadmaps for new initiatives with minimal oversight.
• Engage in strategic planning with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Break down complex product challenges into actionable technical solutions.
• Reduce technical debt through documentation, refactoring, and testing.
• Communicate system architecture and tradeoffs to diverse audiences.
• Participate in technical interviews and evaluate engineering candidates.
• Present technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences to support decisions.
