Job summary

Meta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of JavaScript tooling and developer infrastructure across its products. You will design and implement JS compiler enhancements, build and improve linters and test runners, and embed AI-powered capabilities into workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field.
• 8+ years of front-end software engineering with JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Experience leading major front-end initiatives with complex architecture and cross-team coordination.
• Experience designing scalable, performant UI systems for large user bases.
• Proven ability to use data and telemetry to guide decisions.
• Strong written communication of technical decisions to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of compiler passes and JS transformations.
• Build and enhance linters, test runners and code analysis tooling.
• Integrate LLM-powered capabilities into developer workflows.
• Own end-to-end delivery of major JS tooling initiatives across teams.
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks in build systems and runtimes.
• Establish best practices for JS tooling including AST and incremental compilation.
• Mentor engineers on tooling architecture and AI-assisted development.
• Partner with stakeholders to drive technical decisions and roadmaps.
• Address technical debt and migrate tooling to modern standards.
• Communicate strategies and trade-offs clearly to leadership.
