Job summary

Meta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of JavaScript tooling and developer infrastructure. You will design and implement JS compiler enhancements, build linters and test runners, and integrate AI-powered capabilities into developer workflows.

You will lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and coordinate with product, infra, and design teams to deliver scalable, high-quality tooling at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in front-end software engineering, including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience leading front-end initiatives with complex architecture and cross-team coordination.
• Experience building scalable, performant, accessible UI systems for large user bases.
• Experience using data, experiments, and telemetry to drive front-end decisions.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React and knowledge of rendering performance, state management, and lifecycle.
• Experience adhering to responsible AI practices and integrating AI tools into workflows.
• Experience with browser performance profiling and Core Web Vitals optimization.
• Experience building/designing design systems or shared component libraries.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of compiler passes and JavaScript transformations that improve code quality, performance, and developer experience.
• Build and enhance developer tooling infrastructure including linters, test runners, and code analysis tools.
• Integrate AI-powered capabilities into developer workflows for code generation and automated fixes.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of major JS tooling initiatives across teams.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in build systems, bundlers, and JS execution.
• Establish best practices for JavaScript tooling, including AST manipulation and static analysis.
• Mentor engineers on tooling architecture and AI-assisted development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive technical decisions and roadmaps.
• Address technical debt and migrations to modern standards at scale.
• Communicate strategy and trade-offs clearly to engineering and leadership.
