Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Palmdale, CA seeks a Staff Engineer to lead a diverse team and execute repairs and/or modifications to aerospace systems in development or field locations.

The role requires a self-starter with IPT experience, strong communication with upper leadership, and the ability to travel to remote sites. On-site role with occasional travel up to 25% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 12 years of engineering experience; or Master’s with 10; or PhD with 8.
• Experience with aviation systems and subsystems.
• Able to follow technical manuals and repair manuals.
• Strong communication with design engineers and aircraft specialties.
• Prior field engineering, mission or maintenance support required.
• Deep mechanical background in aviation systems and subsystems.
• Understanding of TCP/UDP networks and basic DHCP/DNS familiarity.
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret SCI clearance with recent background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and resolve engineering production problems related to manufacturing, design, quality, and materials.
• Analyze specifications and drawings; confer with engineers and subcontractors for information.
• Investigate defective or malfunctioning parts and systems.
• Inspect defective parts for conformance and formulate corrective actions.
• Develop installation procedure steps and redline drawings.
• Support retrofit and field modification activities and train technicians.
• Brief upper leadership and customers regularly; assign work to team members.
