Job summary

True Anomaly seeks a Staff Elixir Software Engineer to lead the backend systems and guide the architectural direction of our distributed ground control platform. You will own the Elixir/OTP stack, set technical standards, and mentor engineers across teams.

You will drive strategic initiatives, shape product direction, partner with product and operations, and ensure reliability and scalability of mission-critical software for space systems.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience
• Elixir and OTP mastery, BEAM internals
• Distributed systems design for fault tolerance, scaling
• Testing strategies across unit/integration/property-based/end-to-end
• Service architectures and internal infrastructure
• API design influence; gRPC/REST/WebSockets/GraphQL
• Full-stack capability for architecture decisions
• Git-based workflow leadership and code review standards
• U.S. citizen eligible for DoD clearance

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale distributed systems initiatives from vision to deployment
• Define the Elixir/OTP systems roadmap and architecture patterns
• Serve as primary technical decision-maker for distributed systems
• Identify reliability risks and drive multi-quarter initiatives
• Mentor engineers and develop senior/mid/junior talent
• Partner with leadership to influence product strategy and direction
• Improve deployment velocity and reliability with tooling and metrics
• Create architectural decision records and documentation
• Represent engineering in strategic planning and resourcing
• Develop leaders within the team
