True Anomaly is seeking a Staff Elixir Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of our distributed ground control system. You'll define backend architecture, set roadmaps, and mentor engineers while partnering with product, ops, and astrodynamics teams.

You will tackle high-impact greenfield initiatives, shape product strategy, and drive reliability, scalability, and velocity across the platform. This onsite role is near Denver, CO or Long Beach, CA with generous equity and platinum

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience.
• Expert-level mastery of Elixir and OTP, BEAM internals and scale.
• Distributed systems design for fault tolerance, clustering, and scalability.
• Proven testing strategies across unit, integration, property-based, and end-to-end.
• Experience leading technical initiatives in Git-based workflows.
• U.S. citizen eligible for DoD clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale distributed system initiatives from vision to production deployment.
• Define Elixir/OTP roadmaps and establish engineering patterns and infrastructure.
• Be the primary technical decision-maker for distributed architecture.
• Identify reliability risks and drive multi-quarter initiatives to address them.
• Mentor senior and junior engineers and drive design reviews.
• Collaborate with product, design, space operations, and astrodynamics teams.
• Improve reliability, velocity, and developer experience through tooling and processes.
• Maintain technical documentation and architecture records.
