Job summary

Symbotic in Wilmington, MA seeks a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for complex subsystems and cross-discipline interfaces on automated material-handling robots. You will guide design principles, drive architectures from concept through production, and partner with mechanical, firmware, safety, PLM, and contract manufacturers.

You will design schematics and PCB layouts in Altium, own stackup and routing, apply DfX, and lead verification and release through PDP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree a plus.
• 8+ years of electrical design experience from concept to production.
• Expertise with Altium schematic capture and strong PCB layout design.
• Experience in automation robotics or automotive platforms in harsh environments.
• Strong integration across electronics with mechanical, firmware, and controls.
• Knowledge of safety standards for automation/robotics (SIL/ISO/IEC 61508 handy).
• Proficiency in EMC/EMI design practices and debugging.
• Ability to work in PDP/phase-gate processes and lead others.

Responsibilities

• Lead solutions to complex electrical problems at board, harness, and subsystem level.
• Drive designs from concept through production for owned programs.
• Lead through PDP phase gates, design reviews, and verification to ensure repeatable releases.
• Design schematics and PCB layouts in Altium; own stackup, routing, and DFM considerations.
• Apply DfX principles to ensure manufacturability, testability, and cost effectiveness.
• Work in PLM (BOMs, ECOs/ECNs) with contract manufacturers for production.
• Write requirements and test plans; execute testing for safety, function, and robustness.
• Investigate lab and field issues; lead containment and corrective design.
• Research and qualify components for robotics and automotive environments.
• Lead complex projects and mentor others; travel to sites as needed.
