Job summary

Symbotic in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Cell Engineering team. You will design and improve electromechanical components for robotic warehouse automation, collaborating with electrical, controls, robotics, and vision teams.

The role involves prototype validation, fabrication oversight, and developing installation and maintenance manuals. A BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of hands-on design experience and knowledge of CAD/FEA is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical design/engineering experience.
• Robotics industry experience or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD and other CAD software; FEA a plus.
• PLM experience is a plus.
• Experience with design and drafting standards; fabrication processes (turning, milling, welding).
• Ability to manage priorities with autonomy; strong problem-solving and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Create and design components of electromechanical machinery and systems.
• Provide technical support for production and project implementation.
• Prepare and review drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Develop tools and equipment for robotic cells and automation equipment.
• Visit customers to collect data and coordinate with suppliers.
• Validate critical mechanical components and assist with commissioning.
• Document test procedures for prototype validation and lifecycle tasks.
• Guide teammates on part design and cross-disciplinary alignment.
